June 18th-19th : the European Series had its stop at the brand new Birmingham BMX Track in the UK. Several of our Euro Team Riders made to trip across the Channel to be part of this well hosted event.

Jordy Agues was riding strong in the Men 25/29 Category. He was winning motos all weekend long, making both Mains. On Saturday, he holeshotted but went a bit high in the first turn and was pushed back to second. A place he held to the finish. On Sunday he was leading the pack with a comfortable lead when he unclipped on the jump going into the last turn. He couldn’t get clipped in anymore and had to settle for 5th place.

Nico van Dartel was eliminated in the Men 30+ Semis with a 6th place.

Elite Women’s Sandra is still struggling to find her good form and went out in the motos.

Fellow Latvian Edzus Treimanis recuperated well from his trip to Seoul, where he took 2nd place in the 2nd Crown Hataï Money Race.
In Birmingham, he made it both days to the finals with a 6th on Saturday and 3rd place on Sunday. He moves up to second place in the Elite Men Ranking.

Finals of the European Championship Series and the European Challenge Championships will be held in Haaksbergen (Holland) in 3 weeks time.

Rounds 7&8 of the UEC Championships Series where held in Winterthur (CH).

The weather was great, the track fast and technical .

The competition was stiff with a bunch of top riders  from outside Europe making the trip over to Switserland after last week’s UCI Supercross in Papendal.

Junior Men’s Bastien Merle was riding strong and qualified easily for the Main Event.
He took a good gate and was went into the first turn in third. In turn 3 he hit a back wheel, crashed and finished in 7th.
Sunday disaster struck : Bastien, only recently back from injury, crashed in the semis with a colar bone fracture as a result. Probably end of the 2011 season.

Elite Women’s Sandra Aleksejeva managed to pass the tough women’s motos, but stranded in the semis on both days.

Elite Men’s Edzus Treimanis has been on a roll lately with a 2nd place in the previous Euro Round in Praha (CZ) and a 5th spot in last weekend’s SX.
In Switserland he took the 2nd spot on the podium both days. In the ranking he’s still in third place but he extend his lead on #4 and is closing in on #2.
Next race for Edzus is the 2nd Crown International in Seoul (Korea) before joining the rest of the Team in England for the Euro Rounds 9&10 in Birmingham.
